AUBURN, Ala.--The Samford women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision at 40
th-ranked Auburn Saturday afternoon at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.

With the loss, Samford falls to 1-1 on the young season. Auburn improves to 3-1 with the win.

Samford took the first singles match when seniors
Jessica Northcutt and
Carita Moolman defeated Auburn's Alizee Michaud and Reka Muller by a score of 6-1. Auburn the evened things up when Alannah Griffin and Andie Dikosavljevic earned a 6-3 win over Samford's
Iva Parapunova and
Savannah Wood.

The deciding doubles match came down to the wire as AU's Plen Burgmans and Paula de Man defeated
Ellie Gerlach and
Annika Hepp, 7-6 (7-3). The doubles win gave Auburn an early 1-0 lead.

The Tigers won each of the six singles matches in straight sets. At No. 1, Burgmans defeated Northcutt, 6-4, 6-2. At the No. 2 spot, Michaud earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over Moolman.

Dikosavljevic, ranked 31
st in the nation, defeated Parapunova, 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 3 position. Auburn's Griffin earned a 6-1, 6-1 win over Gerlach at No. 4, while de Man defeated Wood, 6-0, 6-4 at No. 5. At the No. 6 spot, Caroline Turner earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Hepp to make the final score 7-0.

Samford will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 6, when the Bulldogs host Kennesaw State. The match is set to begin at 11 a.m. at the Samford Tennis Center.
