BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--The Samford women's tennis team will host cross-town rival UAB Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Samford Tennis Complex.

Samford enters the match with a record of 2-3 so far this season. The Bulldogs are coming off a 5-2 loss to Middle Tennessee on Feb. 13.

In its five matches so far this season, senior
Jessica Northcutt has played exclusively at the No. 1 singles position, posting a record of 2-3. Fellow senior
Carita Moolman has competed at the No. 2 spot and also has a mark of 2-3.

Iva Parapunova (2-3) has played at No. 3 singles, while
Ellie Gerlach (3-2) has been competing at No. 4. The No. 5 spot has been occupied by
Savannah Wood (3-2), and
Annika Hepp (2-3) has played each match at the No. 6 spot.

In doubles, Northcutt and Moolman have accumulated a record of 4-1 at the No. 1 spot. Gerlach and Hepp are 3-2, mostly at the No. 2 spot, while Parapunova and Wood are 2-2 at the No. 3 position.

UAB comes into the contest with a record of 2-4. The Blazers are coming off a 4-0 loss to Middle Tennessee on Feb. 14.

Last season, Samford defeated UAB, 5-2 at the Samford Tennis Complex. UAB's last win in the series came in 2013, when the Blazers earned a 4-3 win over the Bulldogs.
