BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--The Samford women's tennis team fell to 25
th-ranked Mississippi State, 7-0, Saturday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Complex.
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 3-4 on the young season. Mississippi State improves to 6-1 with the win.
 
Samford captured the No. 1 doubles match, with seniors 
Carita Moolman and 
Jessica Northcutt defeating Madison Harrison and Georgiana Patrasc, 6-4. MSU, however, came back to take No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches to earn the point and take a 1-0 lead.
 
MSU swept the six singles matches. Samford's 
Savannah Wood, playing in the No. 5 position, took MSU's Kristina Vozniak to three sets, but Vozniak eventually won, 5-7, 7-5, 1-0.
 
The visiting Bulldogs took the other five singles matches in straight sets. Freshman 
Georgina Jupp saw her first collegiate action in the match, playing at No. 6.
 
Samford will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 27, when the Bulldogs play Miami of Ohio in Lexington, Ky. The team will then take on Kentucky on Feb. 28.
