BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Samford men's tennis team will play at Mississippi State Saturday, and the team will host Jacksonville State Sunday at the Samford Tennis Complex. The match at MSU is scheduled for 12 p.m., and the home match against JSU will take place at 9 a.m.
Samford enters the weekend with a record of 1-1. The Bulldogs opened the season with a 6-1 loss at Alabama on Jan. 18. Samford then earned a 4-0 home win over Kennesaw State on Jan. 22.
In the win over Kennesaw State, Samford won the doubles point, two matches to one. In singles, the Bulldogs won the first three matches in straight sets to secure the win.
Fares Kilani earned the win at No. 1 singles. At the No. 2 spot,
Trey Carter earned the win, and
Justin Ghavami took the victory at No. 3.
Mississippi State is currently 3-2 on the young season. After falling to LSU (4-1) and Florida State (4-1) to open the season, MSU earned wins over UNC Wilmington (4-3), George Washington (4-0) and Alcorn State (7-0).
Jacksonville State enters the weekend with a mark of 3-3. The Gamecocks are coming off a 7-0 win over Alabama-Huntsville on Jan. 30.
