FINAL RESULTS

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--The Samford women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Georgia State Sunday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Complex.
 
Samford started the match off strong, earning the doubles point, winning two of the three matches. At No. 1 doubles, Samford seniors Carita Moolman and Jessica Northcutt downed Tarani Kamoe and Linn Timmerman, 6-3.
 
GSU's Niri Rosolomalala and Lara Vovk earned a 6-1 win over Annika Hepp and Ellie Gerlach at the No. 2 spot to even the match. Samford earned the doubles point when Savannah Wood and Iva Parapunova defeated Kristin Rehse and Daniela Ramirez, 6-3 at the No. 3 doubles spot.
 
In singles, Georgia State won all six matches in straight sets. The closest match came at the No. 1 singles spot. Timmermann defeated Northcutt at the top spot, 7-5, 6-4.
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 2-2 on the young season. Georgia State improves to 2-0 with the win.
 
Samford will return to action on Feb. 13, when the Bulldogs host Middle Tennessee. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the Samford Tennis Complex.
