BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team will host matches against both Belmont and Wofford this weekend at the Samford Tennis Complex. The Bulldogs will take on Belmont Friday at 2 p.m., and the team will host Wofford Sunday at 2 p.m.
Samford enters the weekend with a record of 5-4 overall and 0-1 in Southern Conference action. The Bulldogs are coming off a 5-2 loss to East Tennessee State last Sunday.
Samford has been led by senior
Fares Kilani, who was named the SoCon's Player of the Month earlier today. Kilani has posted a record of 6-3, going 5-3 at No. 1 singles and 1-0 at No. 2.
Senior
Trey Carter has a record of 5-4, compiling a 4-4 mark at the No. 2 position and 1-0 at No. 2.
Justin Ghavami has a record of 5-3, playing at the No. 3 spot.
Leonard Gerch has a record of 3-4 (2-3 at No. 4 and 1-1 at No. 5).
Jake Faundez is 5-1 at No. 6, while
Eduardo Lourido Sanchez is 1-4 (1-3 and No. 5 and 0-1 at No. 4).
Austin Heinz has a record of 1-0 at the No. 4 position.
In doubles, Carter and Gerch are 5-4 at No. 1. Faundez and Sanchez have a record of 5-2 (2-1 at No. 2 and 3-1 at No. 3). Ghavami and Kilani have posted a record of 2-4 (1-3 at No. 2 and 1-1 at No. 3), while Heinz and Kilani are 1-0 at No. 3 doubles.
Belmont enters Friday's match with a record of 4-4. The Bruins are coming off a 5-2 loss to VCU on March 9.
Wofford has a record of 6-6 overall, and the Terriers will open SoCon play Saturday at Mercer. Wofford is coming off a 5-2 win over Limestone College on March 4.
