BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team will host the UNCG Spartans in a Southern Conference match Saturday at 12 p.m. at the Samford Tennis Complex.
The Bulldogs enter the match with a record of 6-8 overall and 1-0 in SoCon play. Samford is coming off a 6-1 win over Mercer on Wednesday.
Samford has been led so far this season by the senior tandem of
Jessica Northcutt and
Carita Moolman. In doubles, the pair has compiled a record of 9-4 at the No. 1 position. In singles, Northcutt (4-9) has played at the No. 1 spot, while Moolman (5-7) has occupied the No. 2 position.
At No. 3 singles has been senior
Iva Parapunova, with a record of 4-10.
Ellie Gerlach has a record of 6-7 (5-6 at No. 4, 1-1 at No. 5).
Savannah Wood has compiled a record of 8-6 (7-4 at No. 5, 1-2 at No. 4).
Annika Hepp (4-4) and
Georgina Jupp (2-2) have split time at the No. 6 singles position.
UNCG comes into Saturday's match with a record of 7-7 overall and 1-1 in Southern Conference action. The Spartans last played on March 15, falling at Winthrop, 7-0.
Samford and UNCG met last season in Greensboro, N.C. The Bulldogs earned a 7-0 win over the Spartans in that meeting on the road. UNCG's last win in the series came in 2013 in a 4-3 win in Greensboro.
