BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team will return to Southern Conference action by hosting the Western Carolina Catamounts Friday at 11 a.m. (CT) at the Samford Tennis Complex.
Samford enters the match with a record of 7-8 overall and 2-0 in SoCon action. Last week the Bulldogs claimed a pair of league wins over Mercer (6-1) and UNCG (7-0).
So far this season, the Bulldogs have been led by seniors
Jessica Northcutt and
Carita Moolman. As a doubles pair playing at the No. 1 position, Northcutt and Moolman have a record of 10-4.
Northcutt, who was named the SoCon Player of the Week this week, also plays at the No. 1 spot in singles, posting a record of 5-9. Moolman has a mark of 6-7 at No. 2 singles.
Senior
Iva Parapunova has played every match at No. 3 singles, and has a record of 5-10.
Ellie Gerlach has a record of 7-7 (5-6 at No. 4, 2-1 at No. 5).
Savannah Wood boasts a mark of 9-6 (2-2 at No. 4, 7-4 at No. 5).
Annika Hepp has a record of 5-4, all at No. 6, while
Georgina Jupp is 2-2 at No. 6 singles.
Western Carolina comes into the match with a record of 10-6 overall and 0-3 in SoCon matches. The Catamounts are coming off a 7-0 non-conference win over Tusculum on Wednesday.
