BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team will wrap up its regular season with a match at Chattanooga Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Samford has won six matches in a row, and the Bulldogs enter the match with a record of 11-4 overall and 5-1 in Southern Conference play. Samford is coming off a 5-2 win over Mercer last Friday.
In the win over Mercer, Samford earned the doubles point, two matches to one. In singles, the Bulldogs earned wins at No. 2, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 to claim the win.
For the season, senior
Fares Kilani has played all but one match at No. 1 singles, and has compiled an overall record of 9-6 (8-6 at No. 1, 1-0 at No. 2). Fellow senior
Trey Carter has a season record of 11-4 (10-4 at No. 2, 1-0 at No. 1).
Justin Ghavami has played every match at the No. 3 position and has a record of 10-4.
Leonard Gerch has a record of 7-6 (6-5 at No. 4, 1-1 at No. 5).
Jake Faundez has an impressive 10-2 record (8-2 at No. 6, 2-0 at No. 5).
Eduardo Lourido Sanchez has compiled a 3-6 mark (3-5 at No. 5, 0-1 at No. 4).
Austin Heinz has a record of 1-0 at No. 4 singles, while
Henry Moore is 2-0 at the No. 6 spot.
Chattanooga enters the match with a record of 7-12 overall and 1-4 in Southern Conference play. The Mocs are coming off a 4-0 loss at East Tennessee State on April 9.
