BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team earned a 5-2 non-conference victory over Lipscomb Thursday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Complex.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 10-10 overall this season. Lipscomb falls to 11-9 with the loss.
 
Samford jumped out to an early lead, winning the doubles point, two matches to one.
 
At No. 1 doubles, Carita Moolman and Jessica Northcutt defeated Danielle Kinnen and Hannah Gamage, 6-2. The Bulldogs also won at No. 3 doubles, where Savannah Wood and Georgina Jupp earned a 7-5 win over Katerina Kandyba and Hanna Victorsson.
 
In singles, Samford picked up wins at No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 to secure the 5-2 win. At No. 1 singles, Northcutt defeated Gamage, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. Moolman earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Kandyba at No. 2 singles.
 
At the No. 3 spot, Wood defeated Laura Kent, 4-6, 6-3, 4-2 (ret.). Ellie Gerlach earned the win at No. 4 singles, defeating Kinnen, 6-2, 6-2.
 
Samford will wrap up its regular season by playing host to Chattanooga Saturday at 12 p.m. at the Samford Tennis Complex. The match will be Senior Day for the Bulldogs. Seniors Northcutt, Moolman and Iva Parapunova will be honored prior to the match.
