BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team will wrap up the regular season by hosting Southern Conference rival Chattanooga Saturday at 12 p.m. at the Samford Tennis Complex.
The match will be Senior Day for the Bulldogs. Seniors
Jessica Northcutt,
Carita Moolman and
Iva Parapunova will be honored prior to the match.
Samford enters the match with a record of 10-10 overall and 4-2 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs are coming off a 5-2 non-conference win over Lipscomb Thursday afternoon.
Seniors Northcutt, Moolman and Parapunova have led the Bulldogs so far this season. Northcutt has played No. 1 singles, posting a record of 7-12 overall and 3-3 in the SoCon. Moolman has held down the No. 2 spot in singles and has a mark of 9-9 overall and 4-2 in league matches, while Parapunova is 6-13 overall and 2-4 in the SoCon at No. 3.
Moolman and Northcutt also team up to form Samford's No. 1 doubles pair. The duo have a mark of 13-6 overall and 4-2 in SoCon matches.
Savannah Wood has a singles record of 12-8 (7-4 at No. 5, 4-4 at No. 4, 1-0 at No. 3) overall and 4-2 in SoCon play.
Ellie Gerlach has a record of 11-8 (6-6 at No. 4, 5-2 at No. 5) overall and 5-1 in league matches.
Annika Hepp is 8-6 (8-5 at No. 6, 0-1 at No. 5) overall and 5-1 in the SoCon. Freshman
Georgina Jupp has a mark of 2-3, all at the No. 6 spot.
Chattanooga enters the match with a record of 13-7 overall and 4-2 in Southern Conference play. The Mocs are coming off a 6-1 win over Western Carolina on Wednesday.
The teams met last season in Chattanooga, with Samford earning a 7-0 victory. Samford has won the last three-straight matches in the series.
