BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team wrapped up its regular season with a 5-2 Southern Conference loss to Chattanooga Saturday afternoon at The Samford Tennis Complex.
 
Samford finishes the regular season with a record of 10-11 overall and 4-3 in SoCon play. Chattanooga improves its record to 14-7 overall and 5-2 in league matches.
 
Chattanooga took the early lead by earning the doubles point, two matches to one. Samford's lone doubles win came at the No. 3 position, where Savannah Wood and Georgina Jupp defeated Alison Storie and Rachele Gazzola, 7-6.
 
In singles, Samford earned wins at the No. 1 and No. 6 positions. At No. 1, senior Jessica Northcutt earned a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over Kayla Jones. At the No. 6 position, Jupp defeated Sydney Patton, 6-3, 6-2.
 
Samford will next be in action at the Southern Conference Tournament, which is scheduled for April 22-24 in Chattanooga, Tenn.
