BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team will play host to the Furman Paladins in a Southern Conference match Sunday at 1 p.m. (CT) at the Samford Tennis Complex.
Samford enters the match with a record of 9-4 overall and 3-1 in Southern Conference action. The Bulldogs have won their last four matches in a row, and the team is coming off a 7-0 win at The Citadel on March 22.
So far this season, seniors
Fares Kilani and
Trey Carter have been Samford's entries at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles positions. Kilani has a singles record of 8-5 (7-5 at No. 1, 1-0 at No. 2). Carter boasts a record of 9-4 (8-4 at No. 2, 1-0 at No. 1). At No. 3 singles,
Justin Ghavami has an impressive record of 9-3.
Leonard Gerch has a record of 6-5 (5-4 at No. 4, 1-1 at No. 5).
Jake Faundez has the team's best record at 9-1 (1-0 at No. 5, 8-1 at No. 6).
Eduardo Lourido Sanchez has a record of 2-6 (2-5 at No. 5, 0-1 at No. 4).
Austin Heinz has a record of 1-0 at No. 4 singles, while
Henry Moore is 1-0 at the No. 6 spot.
Furman comes into the contest with a mark of 8-8 overall and 2-1 in SoCon play. The Paladins dropped a 6-1 decision to East Tennessee State Friday afternoon.
