JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Samford women's tennis team will travel to East Tennessee State for a key Southern Conference match Sunday at 1 p.m.
Samford enters the match with a record of 8-8 overall and 3-0 in SoCon action. ETSU has a record of 15-1, and the Bucs are also unbeaten in conference play at 4-0.
The Bulldogs are coming off a 6-1 SoCon win over Western Carolina Friday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Complex.
So far this season, the Bulldogs have been led by seniors
Jessica Northcutt and
Carita Moolman. As a doubles pair playing at the No. 1 position, Northcutt and Moolman have a record of 11-4.
Northcutt also plays at the No. 1 spot in singles, posting a record of 5-10. Moolman has a mark of 7-7 at No. 2 singles.
Senior
Iva Parapunova has played every match at No. 3 singles, and has a record of 6-10.
Ellie Gerlach has a record of 8-7 (5-6 at No. 4, 3-1 at No. 5).
Savannah Wood boasts a mark of 10-6 (3-2 at No. 4, 7-4 at No. 5).
Annika Hepp has a record of 6-4, all at No. 6, while
Georgina Jupp is 2-2 at No. 6 singles.
ETSU last played on March 25, with the Bucs earning a 7-0 win at in-state rival Chattanooga.
Last season, Samford earned a hard-fought 4-3 win over ETSU in Birmingham. The teams also met in the championship game of the SoCon Tournament, with Samford earning a 4-1 win.
