CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The fourth-seeded Samford women's tennis team advanced to the semifinals of the Southern Conference Tournament with a 4-0 win over fifth-seeded Wofford in Friday's quarterfinal round at Chattanooga's Champions Club.

With the win, Samford improves to 11-11 on the season. The Bulldogs advance to Saturday's semifinal round where Samford will take on top-seeded Furman at 12 p.m. (CT). Wofford concludes its season with a record of 11-9.

Samford jumped on top by winning the doubles point in two straight matches. At No. 3 doubles, Savannah Wood and Georgina Jupp defeated Taylor Carlson and Catherine Martin, 6-3. Then at the No. 1 spot, Jessica Northcutt and Carita Moolman earned a 6-4 win over Kalli Karas and Cassidy Hicks to give Samford a 1-0 lead.

The Bulldogs then earned singles wins at the No. 1, No. 5 and No. 2 spots to close out the 4-0 win. Samford held leads in two of the three singles matches that were unfinished.

At No. 1 singles, Northcutt defeated Martin, 6-1, 6-0. At No. 5, Annika Hepp earned a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Samantha Russell. Moolman then finished the match by defeating Hicks, 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 2 position.
