Tim Worley Speaks To Leadership Academy

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –Former NFL and University of Georgia running back Tim Worley spoke to Samford student-athletes at the latest SAMFORDSTRONG Leadership Academy seminar, held Tuesday morning in the Regions Community Room in Cooney Hall at the Brock School of Business.
 
Worley talked about his life and career at the University of Georgia and in the NFL. He talked about how alcohol and drugs nearly ruined his life, but how his relationship with God turn his life around.
 
Worley talked about the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people. He also talked about the importance of having strong character.
 
"Your gifts get you in the room, but your character keeps you in the room," Worley said during his talk.
 
Worley played football at Georgia from 1985 to 1988, earning SEC Offensive Player of the Year honors as a senior. He then played in the NFL for the Pittsburgh Steelers (1989-93) and the Chicago Bears (1993-94).
 
Tuesday's event marked the final SAMFORDSTRONG Leadership Academy seminar of the 2015-16 school year. The schedule for next year's seminars will be announced during the summer.
 
The SAMFORDSTRONG Leadership Academy is a program jointly developed between the athletics department and the Frances Marlin Mann Center for Ethics and Leadership. Its mission is to bring in successful athletes to share their personal stories and the importance of faith and character to success in all areas of life to Samford student-athletes.
