BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Samford University soccer team will attempt to extend its winning streak to a school-record 11 straight matches Friday at 7 p.m. (CT) as the Bulldogs play host to the Wofford Terriers in a key Southern Conference contest to be held at the Samford Track and Soccer Stadium. Admission is FREE.

Prior to Friday's match, Samford will also be honoring its 2017 senior class with a special Senior Night Presentation. Fans are asked to arrive 15 minutes early as the Bulldogs honor the following seniors:  Abriella Argueta, Anna Maddox, Virginia McNeill, Kaitlyn Orman and Jermaine Seoposenwe.

Samford's senior class boasts an impressive 54-22-4 overall record, as well as a brilliant 30-4 mark in SoCon play. The Bulldogs' current senior class owns the highest winning percentage of any class in school history.

Heading into Friday's match, Samford (11-5-1, 7-0 SoCon) is riding the positive momentum of a 10-game winning streak. On Sunday, the Bulldogs rallied to defeat The Citadel, 2-1, to tally their 10th straight victory.

Samford also upped its undefeated streak to 11 straight outings. The Bulldogs' winning streak tied the school record, which has now been achieved only three times in history.

The first time Samford won 10 straight matches was in 2011, while the Bulldogs also equaled the feat last season. Also in 2011, they set the school record with a 14-match undefeated streak.

This season, since playing to a 1-1 home draw with Georgia on Sept. 8, the Bulldogs have rattled off consecutive victories against Western Kentucky, 1-0, UC Davis, 1-0, Saint Mary's (CA), 1-0, Western Carolina, 1-0, ETSU, 2-0, Chattanooga, 3-1, UNCG, 2-0, VMI, 4-0, Mercer, 3-1, and The Citadel, 2-1.

Samford, which has won three straight SoCon titles, is in the midst of a 17-match winning streak against conference opponents. The Bulldogs have not been defeated by a SoCon rival since Sept. 25, 2016, when they were topped at Furman, 3-2.

Wofford (7-8-1, 2-4-1 SoCon) heads into Friday's matchup with hopes of bouncing back from a 4-0 home loss to Western Carolina on Sunday. The Terriers' recent defeat snapped a two-match winning streak, which included victories against ETSU, 3-0, and South Carolina State, 6-0.

Wofford owns a 2-3 record in its last five outings and holds a 3-4 record when playing on the road this season. The Terriers' Hayley Younginer holds a decisive SoCon lead in goals scored this season with 21. Younginer, Wofford's sophomore forward from Irmo, South Carolina, is also leading the conference in points (46) and shot attempts (70).

All-time, Samford owns an 8-0-3 record against the Terriers, including a seven-match winning streak in the series dating back to 2009, when the teams played to a 0-0 draw in Birmingham. Last season, the Bulldogs played on the road at Wofford and earned a 5-0 victory in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

SHAUNA'S HOUSE - - RAISING MONEY FOR A HEART-WARMING CHARITY
On Friday, Samford will be wearing special light blue uniforms in honor of Shauna's House, which is an endearing charity honoring Samford head coach Todd Yelton's late wife, Shauna, who lost her battle with cancer in November of 2015.

For three years, Shauna fought against cervical cancer until she passed away almost two years ago in November 2015. She was just 45 and left behind a husband and two teenage children, daughter MacKenzie and son Colin, as well as a lasting impact with her Christian faith and servant's heart.

Friends and family plan to honor Shauna through one of her favorite causes, the orphans of Ukraine, a country where an estimated 70 and 80 percent of young adults suffer through issues with crime, prostitution, suicide or drug overdose when they age out of orphanages. Funds are being raised for Shauna's House in Ukraine, a transition home for young girls.

The Samford soccer team will raise money for Shauna's House at Friday's home game against Wofford.

"If you knew anything about Shauna, you knew she was passionate about the orphans in Ukraine," Yelton said. "We decided in a way to honor her that we would build a transition home in Chernigov, Ukraine, that would be for girls once they graduate from the orphanage to give them a place to have a great start in their lives."

Those wanting to donate to the cause online can do so through Lifesong for Orphans, or by mailing a check to the Samford Athletic Department with the subject "Shauna's House".

WHAT'S COMING UP NEXT?
Following Friday's SoCon matchup with Wofford, the Samford University soccer team will next be in action Sunday at 1 p.m. (CT) as the Bulldogs welcome the Furman Paladins to the Samford Track and Soccer Stadium for a huge conference showdown to be broadcast live on the SoCon Digital Network.
