BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to ETSU Saturday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
ETSU won the doubles matches on courts No. 1 and No. 3 to secure the first point of the match. Samford's Annika Hepp and Elsa Pool earned a 7-5 win over Alory Pereira and Yi Chi Ma on the No. 2 doubles court.
 
The Bucs won all six singles matches to come away with the 7-0 victory. Three of the six singles matches went to a third set before ETSU eventually prevailed.
 
At No. 1 singles ETSU's Ioanna Markesini defeated Ellie Gerlach, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. On the No. 4 singles court, Yi Chi Ma defeated Hepp, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. Jayde Viccars defeated Nadine de Villiers, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 on the No. 6 singles court.
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 8-8 overall and 0-2 in Southern Conference matches. ETSU improves to 8-4 overall and 3-0 in league play.
 
Samford will return to action on March 31, when the Bulldogs host Furman. The match is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start from the Samford Tennis Center.
