BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team earned a 4-3 Southern Conference win over Wofford Sunday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
Wofford earned the first point of the match, winning two of the three doubles matches. Wofford earned wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to secure the point. At No. 3 doubles, Samford's Arianna Beltrame and Grace Jennings defeated Emily Erickson and Taylor Carlson, 6-3.
 
In singles, Samford earned wins on the No. 1, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 courts to secure the win, with Wofford taking the matches at No. 2 and No. 4 singles.
 
At No. 1, Ellie Gerlach defeated Catherine Martin, 5-7, 6-1, 6-3. On the No. 3 court, Elsa Pool earned a 6-4, 6-3 win over Kalli Karas. At No. 5 singles, Jennings defeated Carlson, 6-2, 7-5, while Annika Hepp earned a 6-2, 6-0 win over Curran Carver on the No. 6 singles court.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 9-9 overall and 1-3 in Southern Conference play. Wofford falls to 10-9 overall and 0-3 in SoCon contests.
 
Samford will return to action on April 8, when the Bulldogs play at UNCG. The match is set for an 11 a.m. (CT) start from Greensboro, N.C.
