GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Samford women's tennis team earned a 5-2 win at UNC Greensboro Saturday afternoon.
 
In doubles, Samford earned wins on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts to pick up the first point of the match. At No. 1 doubles, Ellie Gerlach and Grace Jennings defeated Alice Taylor and Masey DeMoss, 6-3. On the No. 2 doubles court, Elsa Pool and Annika Hepp defeated Blaine Boaz and Nancy Bridges, 6-3.
 
In singles, Samford picked up wins at No. 1, No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 to secure the 5-2 victory. UNCG earned wins on the No. 3 and No. 4 singles courts.
 
At No. 1 singles, Gerlach defeated DeMoss, 6-3, 6-2. Savannah Wood earned a 2-6, 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles over Taylor.
 
On the No. 5 singles court, Arianna Beltrame defeated Boaz, 6-4, 6-2. At No. 6 singles, Hepp defeated Corinne Blythe, 6-7 (0-5), 6-3, 6-4.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 10-9 overall and 2-3 in Southern Conference play. UNCG falls to 3-17 overall and 2-4 in league play.
 
Samford will play at Western Carolina Sunday. The match is scheduled for an 11 a.m. (CT) start from Cullowhee, N.C.
