BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team announced the signing of 11 student-athletes to National Letters of Intent (NLI) Wednesday afternoon.
Nikki Bario, Alex Bicknell, Kylie Gazza, Abbey Kolarik, Gabby Liddell, Lindsay Anne Origliasso, Mary Vaughn Raymond, Kyla Reynolds, Jennifer Seward, Kaitlyn Weldy and Taylor Yount each signed with the Bulldogs. Below is a bio sketch of each of the 11 signees is below.
Nikki Bario (5-8, MF/F, Cumming, Ga./South Forsyth HS/Tophat DA) scored 11 goals and had four assists as a sophomore. As a freshman, she tallied 13 goals and 16 assists. She won her team's Best Attacking Player award. Plays for the Tophat Development Academy club team that has reached the Nationals for each of the last four years. Bario is an athletic, attacking player, who is a tremendous playmaker. She's an intelligent player that is very technical and has great vision for the field to make things happen in the attack.
Alex Bicknell (5-10, GK, Milton, Ga./Milton HS/Ambush Soccer Club) has lettered four years at Milton High School in Georgia. She was named her school's Female Athlete of the Year and Varsity Soccer Player of the Year. She was also named All-Region and was named her team's MVP. In 2016, she earned the Rep the M Award. Bicknell helped lead her team to the state finals in 2018.
Kylie Gazza (5-10, CB, Cumming, Ga./West Forsyth HS/Tophat DA) scored 16 goals and dished out 10 assists as a sophomore. As a freshman, she had a school-record 22 goals and 11 assists. She is a two-time All-State and All-County selection, and a three-time All-Region honoree. She helped lead her high school team to a state runner-up finish in 2016. Her club team, Tophat Development Academy, has reached Nationals in each of the last four years.
Abbey Kolarik (5-8, D/F, Maryville, Tenn./Maryville HS/FC Alliance ECNL) lettered four years at Maryville High School. She has recorded 26 goals and 37 assists in her career. She was named All-State first team, and was chosen as a team captain. She was also named to the THSCAA Senior All-Star Game, and was named District Defensive Player of the Year.
Gabby Liddell (5-0, MF, Spring, Texas/Klein Oak HS/Challenge Soccer Club) has lettered three years at Klein Oak High School in Texas. She tallied 26 goals and 14 assists. She was named second team All-District as a junior, and she helped lead her team to a district title in 2017, and area championships in both 2017 and 2018.
Lindsay Anne Origliasso (5-4, WB, Chesterfield, Mo./ De Smet High School/ St. Louis Scott Gallagher) was named All-State and All-Metro at De Smet High School in Missouri. She helped lead her team to three district titles. Her teams reached the state quarterfinals as a junior, and finished third in the state as a sophomore and second as a freshman.
Mary Vaughn Raymond (5-10, MF/D, Palm Harbor, Fla./Palm Harbor University HS/Tampa Bay United ECNL) has scored 28 goals, and has tallied 18 assists so far in her high school career. As a junior, she tallied 16 goals and seven assists. She is a two-time Tampa Bay Times' Player of the Year, and she was named All-Conference, All-County and All-Area.
Kyla Reynolds (5-5, F, Rome, Ga./Model HS/UFA Milton) has lettered two years in soccer at Model High School. She tallied 36 goals and 10 assists in 2018, and she had 34 goals and 10 assists the year before. She was named All-Area in both soccer and basketball. She was also a two-time winner of the Golden Boot Award for the Darlington Soccer Academy.
Jennifer Seward (5-6, OB/F, Navarre, Fla./Navarre HS/Gulf Coast Texans) has lettered four years in soccer at Navarre High School. She was named first team All-Area as both a sophomore and junior. She also lettered four years in track and two years in softball.
Kaitlyn Weldy (5-7, D, Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern HS/Indiana Fire ECNL) earned three letters in soccer and one in track at Hamilton Southeastern High School. She scored 16 goals, and added nine assists for a total of 41 points. She was named both All-State honorable mention, and All-Academic in 2018.
Taylor Yount (5-8, F, Cape Coral, Fla./Mariner HS/GPS Florida West) is a four-year letterwinner at Mariner High School in Florida. For her freshman through junior seasons, she tallied 115 goals and tallied 47 assists. She was named team captain and MVP of her squad. She helped lead her team to a pair of District 3A-13 titles.
