BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to Georgia State Friday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
Samford jumped out to an early lead by earning the doubles point. The Bulldogs won at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to secure the point. At No. 1,
Roos van der Zwaan and
Ellie Gerlach defeated Damira Muminovic and Kristin Rehse, 7-6. On the No. 2 court,
Holly Horsfall and
Elsa Pool earned a 7-5 victory over Elizabet Danailova and Laura Vovk.
Georgia State came back to win the singles matches at No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 to take the 4-1 win. The matches at No. 5 and No. 6 singles were not finished.
With the loss, Samford falls to 3-4 so far this season. Georgia State improves to 4-3 with the win.
Samford will return to action Saturday with a match at Auburn. The match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
