STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Samford women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision at Mississippi State Sunday afternoon at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.
 
Mississippi State took the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. At No. 2, Magda Adaloglou and Janina Braun defeated Holly Horsfall and Elsa Pool, 6-3. On the No. 3 court, Sara Lizariturry and Anastasia Rentouli defeated Arianna Beltrame and Grace Jennings, 6-2. The match on the No. 1 doubles court was not finished.
 
In singles, Mississippi State took wins at the No. 6, No. 2 and No. 1 positions to secure the 4-0 win. The matches at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 were not finished.
 
At No. 6 singles, Khrystyna Vozniak defeated Jennings, 6-2, 6-1. On the No. 2 singles court, Madison Harrison earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Roos van der Zwaan. At No. 1 singles, Braun defeated Ellie Gerlach, 6-2, 6-4.
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 3-1 so far this season. Mississippi State improves to 3-2 with the win.
 
Samford will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 7, when the Bulldogs host cross-town rival UAB. The match is set for a 2 p.m. start from the Samford Tennis Center.
