BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team earned a 6-1 Southern Conference victory over Chattanooga Saturday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
The Bulldogs swept the three doubles matches to earn the first point of the match. At No. 1 doubles, Roos van der Zwaan and Ellie Gerlach defeated Samantha Caswell and Emma Van Hee, 6-1. On the No. 2 doubles court, Holly Horsfall and Elsa Pool picked up a 6-4 win over Bogdana Zaporozhets and Delaney Edwards. At No. 3 doubles, Arianna Beltrame and Grace Jennings defeated Caroline Hall and Annie Tarwater, 6-2.
 
In singles, Samford earned wins at No. 1, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 to secure the 6-1 win. At No. 1 singles, van der Zwaan defeated Caswell, 6-3, 6-1. On the No. 3 singles court, Horsfall earned a 5-7, 6-2, 10-5 win over Hall.
 
At No. 4 singles, Pool defeated Tamri Chalaganidze, 6-2, 6-3. On the No. 5 singles court, Beltrame defeated Van Hee, 6-1, 6-1. At the No. 6 position, Jennings earned a 6-2, 6-4 win over Zaporozhets.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 8-7 overall and 2-0 in Southern Conference play. Chattanooga falls to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in league action.
 
Samford will return to action on Friday, March 30, when the Bulldogs host Western Carolina. The match is set for an 11 a.m. start from the Samford Tennis Center.
