BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team will host the Western Carolina Catamounts Friday at 11 a.m., and then host the UNCG Spartans Saturday at 11 a.m., both at the Samford Tennis Center.
Saturday's match will be Senior Day for the Bulldogs. Seniors
Ellie Gerlach and
Roos van der Zwaan will be honored prior to the match.
Samford enters the weekend with a record of 8-7 overall and 2-0 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs opened SoCon play with back-to-back 6-1 wins over Mercer and Chattanooga last week.
Seniors Gerlach and van der Zwaan have held down the No. 1 and No. 2 singles spots throughout the season for the Bulldogs. Gerlach is 4-10 (2-4 at No. 1, 2-6 at No. 2), while van der Zwaan is 7-8 (5-4 at No. 1, 2-4 at No. 2).
Holly Horsfall is 9-4 (8-4 at No. 3, 1-0 at No. 4).
Elsa Pool has a record of 8-6 (1-0 at No. 3, 7-6 at No. 4).
Arianna Beltrame has a mark of 8-2 (5-2 at No. 5, 3-0 at No. 6).
Grace Jennings has a record of 8-3 (3-1 at No. 5, 5-2 at No. 6), while
Amanda Kilduff is 1-0 at No. 6.
Western Carolina has a mark of 9-5 overall and 2-1 in SoCon matches. The Catamounts are coming off a 4-3 loss at Gardner-Webb Wednesday.
UNCG enters the weekend with a record of 3-11 overall and 0-3 in league matches. The Spartans are coming off a 6-1 loss to Elon Wednesday. UNCG will play at Mercer Friday afternoon, before heading to Birmingham.
