BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
The Samford women's tennis team earned a 6-1 Southern Conference victory over UNCG on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.

Prior to the match seniors Ellie Gerlach and Roos van der Zwaan were honored for their time at Samford.

"It's always nice to get a win on Senior Day, and today was no different," Samford head coach David Vest said. "I'm proud of how well Ellie and Roos have both represented Samford in their time here.  I thought we played focused tennis in both the doubles and singles, and with a little extra enthusiasm knowing that we were playing for them today."

With the win, Samford improves to 10-7 overall and 4-0 in Southern Conference play. UNCG drops to 3-13 overall and 0-5 in league matches.

"Next weekend's road match against ETSU is going to be a tough one, but I know the girls are looking forward to it," Vest said. "We will need all of next week to prepare once we get back from the Easter holiday and a couple of days off."
