SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Samford women's tennis team earned a road Southern Conference victory at Wofford by a score of 5-2 Friday afternoon.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 12-8 overall and 5-1 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs will play for a share of the SoCon regular-season title when they take on Furman Saturday in Greenville, S.C. Wofford falls to 9-9 overall and 1-6 in league play.
 
In doubles, Samford dropped the match at the No. 1 position, but came back to take wins at No. 2 and No. 3 to earn the first point of the match. At No. 2, Holly Horsfall and Elsa Pool defeated Curran Carver and Brittney Wilbur, 6-2. On the No. 3 singles court, Arianna Beltrame and Grace Jennings earned a 7-6 win over Samantha Russell and Lauren Reid.
 
In singles, Samford earned wins at No. 1, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 to close out the 5-2 victory. At No. 1, Roos van der Zwaan defeated Cassidy Hicks, 6-3, 6-3. At the No. 4 position, Pool defeated Carver, 6-4, 6-1.  
 
On the No. 5 singles court, Beltrame earned a 6-0, 6-3 win over Wilbur. At No. 6 singles, Jennings defeated Russell, 6-0, 6-1.
 
The Bulldogs will wrap up their regular season with a match at league-leading Furman Saturday. Saturday's contest will start at 11 a.m. (CT). The link to follow the match is below.
