FULL SCHEDULE
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.— Games against LSU, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Georgia and Georgia Tech, as well as three home tournaments highlight the Samford softball team's 2020 schedule, released Tuesday morning.
Samford opens the season with the first of three home tournaments, hosting Eastern Illinois, Winthrop and Akron, Feb. 7-9. The team will then host a single game with Troy, Feb. 12. The Bulldogs will then compete in a tournament hosted by LSU, Feb. 14-16. Joining Samford and LSU in the tournament will be North Dakota and Louisiana-Lafayette.
The following week Samford will play pair of midweek games at UAB (Feb. 18) and Georgia (Feb. 19). Next up will be Samford's second home tournament, hosting DePaul, Kentucky and Georgia Tech, Feb. 21-23. Samford will then take part in a tournament at Jacksonville State, competing with JSU and UTSA, Feb. 28-29.
Samford will next compete in a tournament at Florida International, taking on Tulsa, Ball State, FIU and Maryland, Mar. 6-8. After hosting a single game with Bryant, Mar. 12, Samford will host a tournament with Austin Peay and North Alabama, Mar. 14-15. Samford's final pre-conference game will come with a home game against Mississippi State, Mar. 18.
The Bulldogs will open Southern Conference play with a home series against Furman, Mar. 21-22. The team will then host cross-town rival UAB, Mar. 24. The Bulldogs will then travel to Mercer for a SoCon series, Mar. 28-29.
Next up, Samford will go on the road for midweek games at Southern Mississippi (Apr. 1) and Tennessee State (Apr. 7). Samford will then host back-to-back SoCon series against Chattanooga (Apr. 10-11) and Western Carolina (Apr. 18-19). Next, the Bulldogs will travel to ETSU for a SoCon series (Apr. 25-26).
The following week, Samford will play a midweek doubleheader at Alabama State, Apr. 29. The team will wrap up the regular season with a home series against UNCG, May 2-3.
The 2020 SoCon Softball Tournament will be held in Greensboro, N.C., May 6-9.
