BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to South Alabama Sunday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 4-2 on the season. South Alabama improves to 6-0 with the win.
 
In doubles, Samford claimed the win on the No. 2 court, with Grace Jennings and Mary Kathrine Lewis earning a 6-3 win over Yu Fujioka and Yurie Takanishi. South Alabama, however, earned wins at No. 1 and No. 3 to pick up the doubles point for the first point of the match.
 
Samford's Elsa Pool defeated Takanishi, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. USA won on the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 courts to secure the 4-1 victory.
 
Samford will play at Auburn next Sunday, Feb. 17. The match is set for a 10 a.m. start.
