BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to ETSU Saturday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
"This is certainly a disappointing and embarrassing loss after a tough come from behind win over Mercer a few days ago," Samford head coach David Vest said.  "What we showed when we were down 3-1 a few days ago was exactly what a head coach wants to see in their team.  But it is exactly what was lacking today."
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 10-7 overall and 1-1 in Southern Conference play. ETSU improves to 7-8 overall and 2-0 in league matches.
 
"For this team to reach its potential, we are going to have to start doing a better job of realizing what the Samford Tennis standard is," Vest said. "We failed to do that today."
 
ETSU won the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches to secure the doubles point. Samford earned the win at No. 3 doubles where Natalia De Ugarte and Arianna Beltrame defeated Andrea Pascual-Larrinaga and Yunuen Elizarraras, 7-6.
 
ETSU swept the six singles matches to come away with the 7-0 win.
 
"ETSU deserves a lot of credit for coming in here with a young team and taking it to us," Vest said. "They proved yet again why they are always a contender in the SoCon once the conference match schedule begins."
 
Samford will play at UNCG on Saturday, March 30. The match is set for an 11 a.m. (CT) start from Greensboro, N.C. A full recap and results will be posted to www.samfordsports.com following the completion of the match.
