BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford baseball team completed its Southern Conference series sweep of Furman with a 3-0 win over the Paladins Sunday afternoon at Joe Lee Griffin Field.

With the win, Samford improves to 17-6 overall and 3-0 in Southern Conference play. Furman falls to 5-16 overall and 0-3 in league contests.

FROM THE BOX SCORE

Jordan Fucci went 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI to lead Samford at the plate.
Kaden Dreier and Connor Burns also drove in a run each for the Bulldogs.
Zach Hester (3-1) pitched 8.0 innings, giving up no runs on three hits to earn the win for Samford. Hester struck out eight batters without allowing a walk in the win.
Stephen Jones picked up his eighth save of the season, tossing the final hitless inning to close out the win.
For Furman, Dax Roper, Logan Taplett and David Webel had one hit each.
David Dunlavey (1-5) took the loss on the mound for Furman, tossing 6.0 innings and allowing three runs on five hits.

SCORING SUMMARY

The game was scoreless through the first three innings until Samford plated a run in the bottom of the fourth inning. With the bases loaded, Dreier walked, driving home Fucci for a 1-0 Samford lead.
The Bulldogs added a run in the fifth inning to push their lead to 2-0. Fucci doubled down the right field line to drive in Branden Fryman for a two-run Samford lead.
Samford plated the game's final run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Dreier scored on a sacrifice fly by Burns to make the final score 3-0.
