GREENSBORO, N.C. –The Samford women's tennis team fell at the UNC Greensboro Spartans by a score of 5-2 in Southern Conference action Saturday afternoon.
 
With the loss, Samford moves to 10-8 overall and 1-2 in Southern Conference play. UNCG improves to 7-10 overall and 2-3 in SoCon play.
 
Samford won two out of the three doubles matches against the Spartans. At the No. 2 position, Grace Jennings and Mary Kathrine Lewis defeated Emily Ory and Brianna Gomez, 7-6. On the No. 3 court, Natalia De Ugarte and Arianna Beltrame earned a 6-1 win over Sophia Adams and Eugenia Camacho.
 
The Bulldogs only victorious singles match came by the hand of Lewis, who defeated Ory 6-2, 6-3 on the No. 6 singles court.
 
Samford will travel to Western Carolina on Sunday. The match is set for an 11 a.m. start in Cullowhee, N.C. A full recap and results will be posted to www.samfordsports.com following the completion of the match.
