CULLOWHEE, N.C.– The Samford women's tennis team lost in a close match with the Western Carolina Catamounts, 4-3, in Southern Conference action Sunday afternoon at the Catamount Athletic Complex.
 
With the loss, Samford moves to 10-9 overall and 1-3 in Southern Conference play. WCU
improves to 12-7 overall and 2-3 in SoCon play.
 
In doubles, Western Carolina won at No. 1 and No. 3 to secure the first point of the match.
 
The singles matches were split, with each team winning three matches. The Bulldogs won on courts three, four and five. Those matches were respectively won by juniors Natalia De Ugarte, Holly Horsfall and Arianna Beltrame.
 
Samford will return home to Birmingham for their next two matches. On Friday, April 5, the
Bulldogs will take on Furman at 1:30 p.m., and on Sunday, the team will take on Wofford at noon.
