MACON, Ga. – The fifth-seeded Samford women's tennis team opened play in the Southern Conference Tournament with a 4-1 win over fourth-seeded UNCG Thursday morning.
With the win, Samford improves to 13-10 on the season. The Bulldogs advance to Friday's semifinal round where they will take on top-seeded and 50
th-ranked Furman. UNCG ends its season with a record of 9-12.
Samford earned wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead.
In singles, Samford took wins at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 6 to seal the 4-1 win. The clinching point came in
Amanda Kilduff's 7-5, 7-5 win on the No. 6 court.
