TUCSON, Ariz. – The Samford volleyball team dropped a pair of five-set matches to open its season on the first day of the Cactus Classic, hosted by the University of Arizona Friday. In the first match the Bulldogs fell to Loyola Marymount, 3-2 (20-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-16, 22-24). The Bulldogs lost the second match to Appalachian State, 3-2 (22-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-13, 13-15).

KEY MOMENTS
- Samford jumped out to an early 5-3 lead in the first set.
- With the match tied at 13-13, Loyola went on an 8-2 run to take a 21-15 lead.
