FULL ACADEMIC ALL-SOCON TEAM
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford placed 31 student-athletes on the Academic All-SoCon team, released by the Southern Conference Wednesday.
To be eligible for the Academic All-SoCon team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average at the conclusion of the fall semester and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams' competitions during the recently concluded campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least three semesters at their institutions, making true freshmen and first-year transfers ineligible for inclusion.
The Samford football team led all Bulldog squads with 10 representatives on the team. The soccer team had nine players on the squad, while volleyball had six. The men's and women's cross-country teams had three representatives each. Samford's 31 student-athletes on the team posted an average grade-point average of 3.65.
The league's 10 women's soccer teams led the way with 106 selections, while the nine football schools were second with 77 and the nine volleyball programs were third with 51.
