CLARKESVILLE, Tenn. – The Samford baseball team earned a 6-0 win at Austin Peay Friday afternoon on the second day of the SAF Dirt Classic at Raymond C. Hand Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Ayrton Schafer singled to drive in Max Pinto to give Samford a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
• The Bulldogs added a run in the top of the third inning when Sonny DiChiara singled to drive in Pinto for a 2-0 Samford lead.
• Samford plated two more runs in the top of the sixth inning on hits by Ryan Crockett and Taylor Garris to make the score 4-0.
• The Bulldogs added two final runs in the top of the ninth inning to make the final score 6-0. Brooks Carlson and DiChiara drove in a run each in the inning.

 
ON THE MOUND

• Samuel Strickland (2-0) earned the win on the mound for Samford, pitching 6.0 innings, giving up no runs on five hits and striking out eight batters.
• Harley Gollert (0-1) pitched 6.0 innings, giving up four runs on nine hit to take the loss for Austin Peay.

 
NOTABLES 

• Sonny DiChiara went 4-for-5 with two RBI to lead Samford at the plate.
• Brooks Carlson, Ryan Crockett and Taylor Garris had two hits and an RBI each.
