Coaching Corner with head coach Rod Tiffin

On the team's preparation:

"We don't really train any different during this week than any other.  There does always seem to be a heightened focus this time of year, but we try to have that same focus year-round. I think the main thing is everyone understanding their role and what is expected.  We always let them know we don't have try harder at this meet we just need to stay consistent and let the competition bring out the best in us."

On the young men's and women's squads:

"I have been impressed with our young people stepping up and taking on their roles. The older bunch has convinced them to believe that now is their time and they don't need to wait.  This has led to a great team dynamic and hopefully leads to an exciting weekend."

On the team dynamic and success:

"This team has the ability to compartmentalize and bring themselves together as a family. We don't have superstars, starters or benchwarmers.  We have a team that goes out every day and pushes each other to get better. If someone sees a team member struggling or needing some help with a start or technique, they step up and help each other. It has been fun to see this develop over the years and continue along with this group."
