BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford baseball team completed its series sweep of Northern Kentucky with a 10-5 win Sunday afternoon at Joe Lee Griffin Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Northern Kentucky plated two runs in the top of the first inning, Samford came back with a run in the bottom of the first, and three more in the second to take a 4-2 lead.
- NKU then added a run in the top of the third inning to cut the lead to 4-3.
- After NKU tied the score with a run in the top of the seventh inning, Samford took the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Sonny DiChiara drove in two of the runs with a double, and Ayrton Schafer hit a sacrifice fly to drive in the final run for a 7-4 Samford lead.
- The Norse came back with a run in the top of the eighth inning, but Samford plated three more runs in the bottom of the inning to make the final score 10-5.
ON THE MOUND
- Chase Isbell (1-0) pitched 2.0 innings in relief, giving up just one run on one hit to earn the win for Samford.
- Kyle Service (0-2) started the game for Northern Kentucky, and pitched 6.0 innings, allowing six runs on nine hits to take the loss.
NOTABLES
- Sonny DiChiara went 3-for-5 with a double and four RBI to lead Samford at the plate.
- Will David went 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI.
- Taylor Garris went 2-for-4 with a double, while Max Pinto went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
- Jon McGee led Northern Kentucky, going 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI.
