SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford sophomore outside hitter
Kenya McQuirter was named the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week when the league released its weekly volleyball awards Monday afternoon.
For the week, McQuirter led the team in kills with 42 in the Bulldogs' two road matches. She tallied 22 kills in a 3-1 loss at ETSU Thursday night, and 20 kills in a 3-2 setback at Chattanooga Friday evening.
For the season, McQuirter ranks third in the Southern Conference in kills with 233 total kills, averaging 3.88 kills per set. She has tallied double-digit kills in 14 of the team's 17 matches so far this season and has had 20 or more kills in three contests.
Samford will play at Mercer Wednesday night at 6 p.m. (CT). The Bulldogs will then host Furman Friday evening at 7 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center.
