BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's soccer team will travel to Durham, North Carolina to compete against Big East opponent, St. John's, on Friday, Nov. 17 for the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. central time at Koskinen Stadium.
After shutting out Auburn with a 2-0 final decision, the Samford women's soccer team will return to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2005. Upcoming opponent, St. John's, advanced in the big dance after finding a late goal off a free kick in the first overtime period against Brown. The 1-0 victory marked the Johnnies second-ever victory in the NCAA Tournament and the team's first since 2013.

BULLDOGS TO WATCH
- Morgan McAslan continues to be a standout between the posts for the Bulldogs, earning her second shutout against SEC opponents this year after Samford's 2-0 win over Auburn. McAslan has started in all 21 matches this season, allowing just 16 goals while posting 73 saves after 207 shots faced. The Covid senior played the complete 90 minutes against the Tigers for a total of four saves.
- Junior Mary Raymond has made a name for herself this season, with a team-high nine goals and four assists for 46 points on the season. The junior led Samford past the Tigers with her first game-winner on the year at the 60th minute mark. Raymond has now fired off 46 shots with 29 being on frame for a .630 SOG%.
- Junior Taylor Yount ranks second, along with senior Alyssa Frazier, in goals with seven for the Bulldogs this year. She added on an insurance goal in the first round against Auburn after she executed a shot to the lower right netting. The Cape Coral, Fla. native has also tagged on seven assists, while logging 50 shots with 22 being on goal this season.
ST. JOHN QUICK LOOKS:
- The Johnnies have competed in a total of 21 game on their season, recording 208 shots with 111 being on frame for 39 goals. St. Johns plays aggressively with 201 fouls and 14 yellow cards. The Big East contenders have also collected 75 corner kicks and 45 assists.
- Zsani Kajan, a native of Budapest, Hungary, leads the Johnnies offensively with a team-high 17 goals to go along with five assists after starting in 21 games this season. The graduate student also logged five game-winners against the following opponents: Saint Joseph's, Delaware, Providence, Creighton, and Xavier.
- Sophomore Nicole Gordon and Junior Jessica Garziano are key play makers for the Johnnies with both players tallying eight assists on the season. Gordon has also registered two goals, while Garziano has put one ball in the back of the net for 10 points.
