BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Bulldogs (2-1, 0-0 SoCon) of Samford University continue their West Coast swing on Thursday, Nov. 18 in Corvallis, Ore., against the Beavers (1-2) of Oregon State University. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. Central at Gill Coliseum. The game will be broadcast on the Pac 12 Network. Thursday's game also marks the opening round of the Emerald Coast Classic featuring teams from across the country. The multi-team event concludes next week in Destin, Florida.

Samford and Oregon State are meeting for the second time in series history on the hardwood. OSU defeated Samford, 87-66, on Dec. 21, 1974 in the last meeting between the schools.

Despite a career-high 24 points from Ques Glover, the Samford University Bulldogs (2-1) suffered their first loss of the season, falling 77-55 to the University of San Francisco Dons (4-0) on Monday, Nov. 15 at the Sobrato Center. Jamaree Bouyea led San Francisco with 19 points. Jermaine Marshall added 10 points and five rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Oregon State enters Thursday's game 1-2 on the year under head coach Wayne Tinkle. OSU opened the season with a 73-54 victory over Portland State before falling at Iowa State (60-50) and Tulsa (64-58).

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS:
Ques Glover (6-0, 180, So.) continued his hot start for the Bulldogs on Monday with a career-high 24 points at San Francisco. The lightning quick guard made 8-of-15 shots from the floor while finishing with four rebounds and an assist. He has scored in double digits in every game this season and currently ranks No. 5 in the SoCon in scoring at 18.3 points per game. The sophomore from Knoxville, Tenn., appeared in 51 games for the Gators, averaging 3.6 points per game. Glover scored a career-high 10 versus No. 6 Tennessee, during his two seasons in Gainesville with the Gators. Prior to UF, the lightning-quick guard starred at Knoxville, Tenn., powerhouse Bearden High School, where he was named the Knoxville News Sentinel's Player of the Year in 2018, averaging 21 points per game while leading BHS to its first TSSAA Class AAA state championship.

The Bulldogs will appear twice at home in the SoCon's NextStar Broadcasting Game of the Week, as Samford welcomes Western Carolina to the Pete Hanna Center on Jan. 8, 2022 followed by East Tennessee State on Jan. 15, 2022.

Jermaine Marshall (6-6, 225, So.) is averaging 12.3 points and a team-high 7.3 rebounds per game this season. His 7.3 rebounds per game are currently No.7 in the SoCon.

The Bulldogs continue to play without two key returners from last year's squad in A.J. Staton-McCray (6-5, 190, Fr.) and Logan Dye (6-9, 240, Jr.). The duo is out indefinitely due to injury. Staton-McCray, a Charlotte, N.C., native, averaged 10.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game en route to being named to the All-SoCon Freshman Team. As a junior, Dye, a Haleyville, Ala., native, played in all 19 games, averaging 9.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.

Wesley Cardet, Jr. (6-6, 205, Fr.), one of the nation's most sought after recruits, continues to develop his game in advance of Southern Conference play. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native is averaging 13.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. He enters Thursday's game at Oregon State ranked No. 16 in the SoCon in scoring. Cardet was the No. 60 ranked player in the nation and No. 13 at his position by Rivals at West Oaks Academy in Orlando, Fla., for coach Kenny Gillion. The four-star combo guard, who averaged 18.4 points and 9.5 rebounds per game during his time at West Oaks, is one of the highest-rated student-athletes to ever sign with Samford.

Samford is spreading the playing time this season, as no Bulldog averages more than 27.5 minutes per game. Led by Ques Glover's 27.3 minutes per game, the Bulldogs have six players averaging 20-plus minutes per contest.

Freshman guard Jaron Rillie (6-3, 175, Fr.) has been thorn in the side of the opposition this season, ranking second in the SoCon in steals per game (2.0). The Sydney, Australia native is averaging 7.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.

Samford is leading the SoCon in steals (32) and turnovers forced (60) heading into Thursday's game at Oregon State.

Pace of play is the name of the game for the Bulldogs, as Samford ranked No. 1 in the nation a year ago in Possessions Per Game with 91. #BuckyBall had 71.5 possessions thus far this season.

Senior center Jacob Tryon (6-11, 220, Sr.) has blocked six shots through the first three games, ranking third in the league in blocks per game (2.0).

Oregon State enters Thursday's game 1-2 on the year under head coach Wayne Tinkle. OSU opened the season with a 73-54 victory over Portland State before falling at Iowa State (60-50) and Tulsa (64-58).

The Beavers are averaging 60.3 points per game coming into Thursday's clash with Samford while allowing 62.7 points a contest.

Oregon State has a trio of Beavers averaging double figures including preseason All-Pac 12 forward Warith Alatishe's (6-8, Sr., F) team-leading 14.7 points per game. Maurice Calloo (6-10, Sr., F) is second on the team with 12.0 points per game with Jarod Lucas (6-4, Jr., G) chipping in 10.3 per game.
