BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Samford head baseball coach
Casey Dunn earned his 500
th career win, becoming the first Samford coach in any sport to reach the mark, in a 5-4, come-from-behind win over UT Martin Saturday afternoon at Joe Lee Griffin Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UT Martin plated two runs in the first inning and two more in the third to take a 4-0 lead.
- Samford got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning when Tyler McManus scored from third base when Ryan Crockett hit into a double play.
- The Bulldogs added another run in the sixth inning when Will David doubled to drive in Crockett to cut the lead to 4-2.
- Samford closed to within one run on Sonny DiChiara's solo home run in the seventh inning.
- Samford took the lead for good with two runs in the eighth inning. Colton Ledbetter doubled to drive in Carson Allison to tie the score. Taylor Garris then singled up the middle to drive in Ledbetter to give Samford the 5-4 lead.
ON THE MOUND
- Gene Hurst (1-0) pitched 2.0 hitless innings in relief to earn the win on the mound for Samford.
- Carson Hobbs pitched the final inning to pick up his first save of the season.
- Nick Wohlbold (0-1) tossed 2.0 innings in relief, giving up three runs on four hits to take the loss for the Skyhawks.
