BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's soccer team is heading to Oxford, Mississippi to face SEC opponent, Ole Miss, for a Thursday match up with kickoff set for 6:00 p.m. at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium.
The Bulldogs started off their 2021 season with a 1-1 (2OT) tie against the UAB blazers for a current record of 0-0-1. The Rebels had a limited fall schedule where they played conference-only teams. They enter the spring season with a record of 4-5 after closing out the fall season in Orange Beach, Ala. for the SEC tournament where they lost 1-2 (OT) to LSU.

BULLDOGS TO WATCH
- Sophomore Taylor Yount started off the season with one goal and four shots to help the Bulldogs tie the UAB Blazers in the first game of the season. Out of those four shots, three of them were on goal.
- Kylie Gazza played in all 110 minutes for the Bulldogs in game one, where she recorded her first assist of the season. This is her third career assist as a Bulldog after having one against Alabama State and one against VMI last season.
- In her first game back in goal, Morgan McAslan played all 110 minutes where she faced 15 shots, only allowing one goal and registering her first three saves of the season. In 2019, she had a total of 94 saves and averaged a save percentage of .832.
OLE MISS QUICK LOOKS:
- Ole Miss has a current record of 4-5 for the 2020-21 season with all nine games being played against fellow SEC schools. The Rebels have recorded wins against LSU, Alabama, Georgia, and Vanderbilt. They also suffered a 1-2 (OT) loss against LSU in the SEC Tournament this past November, while seeing losses against Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Auburn, and Arkansas.
- Channing Foster and Madisyn Pezzino started in all nine games for the Rebels with both players scoring three goals to lead Ole Miss's offensive effort. Foster also matched Mo O'Connor in the shots category with both players having 20 so far on the season. O'Connor had 11 of those be on frame, leading to one goal, while Channing Foster followed with nine shots on goal.
- Ashley Orkus started and played in all nine games between the posts for Ole Miss. In her 842 minutes in goal this season, she has allowed 13 goals while registering 54 saves.
