GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Samford baseball team fell in game two of its series at No. 7 Florida, 18-2, Saturday afternoon at Florida Ballpark.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After Florida plated three runs in the first inning, Samford cut the lead to 3-1 when Kaden Dreier homered to left-center field in the fifth inning.
After the Gators scored a run in the bottom of the fifth, Samford's Sonny DiChiara hit a solo home run to left-center field in the sixth inning to make the score 4-2.
Florida plated five runs in the sixth inning, eight in the seventh and one in the eighth inning to make the final score 18-2.

ON THE MOUND

Jesse McCord (0-1) pitched 5.0 innings, giving up four runs, just three earned, on four hits to take the loss for the Bulldogs.
Jack Leftwich (1-0) earned the win for Florida, tossing 5.2 innings and allowing two runs on two hits.

NOTABLES

Sonny DiChiara and Kaden Dreier both hit solo home runs to lead Samford at the plate.
Nathan Hickey homered and drove in six runs for the Gators.
