Corinne Meglic both earned Southern Conference awards, when the league released its weekly volleyball honors Tuesday afternoon.
Deaton was named the SoCon's Offensive Player of the Week for the second-straight week, while Meglic earned Setter of the Week honors.
Deaton averaged 5.75 kills per set as the Bulldogs won a pair of home matches against Western Carolina. In the first match, a 3-2 Samford win on Feb. 7, Deaton led all players with 32 kills, tying a career high, and added 20 digs to earn a double-double. She hit .268 and added two blocks, two assists and two aces. The following day, the Memphis, Tennessee, native and preseason All-SoCon selection tallied a match-high 14 kills and hit .387 in the Bulldogs' sweep over the Catamounts.
Meglic averaged 12.25 assists per set in the pair of Samford wins. The native of Green Bay, Wisconsin, tallied a double-double in the first matchup against Western Carolina, dishing out a match-high 60 assists and adding 20 digs in the Bulldogs' win. She followed up that performance with a match-high 38 assists in the three-set sweep a day later.
Samford volleyball will host Wofford for a pair of matches in the next week. The teams are set to play Sunday at 4 p.m., and Monday at 6 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center. Admission to all home matches is free, with limited seating due to COVID-19 restrictions.
