COLLEGE STATION, Texas. – The Samford baseball team suffered a 10-1 loss in the first game of a three-game series at Texas A&M Friday night at Blue Bell Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Texas AM scored a run in the second inning and another in third for a 2-0 lead.
The Aggies plated two more runs in the sixth inning and one in the seventh for a 5-0 lead.
Texas A&M broke the game open with five runs in the eighth inning to push its lead to 10-0.
Samford scored a run in the top of the ninth inning to make the final score 10-1. Joseph Salvo singled to drive in Andrew Bennett for the game's final run.

ON THE MOUND

Samuel Strickland (2-2) took the loss on the mound for Samford, pitching 5.0 innings, allowing two runs on three hits.
Dustin Saenz (3-1) tossed 8.0 innings, giving up no runs on four hits to earn the win for Texas A&M.

NOTABLES

Joseph Salvo drove in Samford's lone run, going 1-for-1 at the plate.
Max Pinto, Tyler McManus, Ryan Crockett and Garrett Howe also had one hit each for Samford.
Austin Bost led Texas A&M, going 3-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI.
