Bulldogs Travel To North Carolina To Face UNCG and WCU

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team will head into conference play this weekend as the Bulldogs travel to North Carolina to compete against UNC Greensboro on Friday, Mar. 19 and Western Carolina on Sunday, Mar. 21.
 
After registering two wins and dropping one match last weekend, Samford women's tennis holds a current record of 9-7. UNC Greensboro will enter competition will an overall record of 4-1, while Western Carolina sits at 7-5 on its season. The Catamounts will compete against South Carolina State the Saturday before they take the court against the Bulldogs.

 BULLDOGS TO WATCH:
  • Olivia Jablonski went 2-0 in singles competition last weekend with a 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 win over Peyton Brotzman from the College of Charleston and a 7-5, 7-5 victory against Zoe Cauthen from Charleston Southern. Jablonski has now secured a record of 6-2 this season with appearances at the No. 5 and 6 spots.
  • Samantha Nanere matched Jablonski with two wins in singles this past weekend. The two players then came together for doubles competition where the duo locked in back-to-back wins against the College of Charleston and Charleston Southern to lead the Bulldogs.
 
OPPONENT QUICK LOOKS:
  • UNC Greensboro supports a record of 4-1 on its season with its one loss coming from fellow conference school, Wofford. The Spartans were defeated by the Terriers last week by a final score of 5-2. Hanna Giddings is a top competitor for UNCG with an individual record of 5-0 with four wins coming from the No. 3 spot and one for the No. 2 spot.
  • Western Carolina has earned seven wins and five losses so far this season. Two of those losses have come from conference schools with the Catamounts dropping matches against Furman and UNCG. Kata Foldeak is the No. 1 spot competitor for WCU with a current record of 7-5.
