BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
Alyssa Frazier executed a penalty kick in the final 30 seconds of the game to give Samford a thrilling 2-1 victory over Mercer University Friday evening at the Samford Track and Soccer Stadium.

KEY PLAYS
- Fifteen minutes into the first half, Morgan McAslan had a diving save to keep the game scoreless after Mercer's Kendall Cook launched a shot from just outside the 18-yard box.
- The Bears struck first at the 50:34 minute mark to take slight 1-0 advantage after Brie Pavol headed the ball past McAslan off of Kendall Cook's corner kick.
- Ella Simpson would even the score 20 minutes later with a header of her own off Alyssa Frazier's fifth corner kick of the night.
- In the final 30 seconds of the match, Ella Simpson was taken down in the box by Mercer's goalkeeper, Jordyn Ebert, resulting in a penalty kick for the Bulldogs. Alyssa Frazier would step up for Samford and placed the ball into the left side of the net to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 victory.

- The Bulldogs would total five corner kicks on the night while the Bears recorded six.
- It would be an aggressive game between the two teams with Samford accumulating 15 fouls compared to Mercer's 10. Nikki Bario would also receive her first yellow card of the season, while Kylie Buchanan and Jordyn Ebert each earn one for the Bears.
- Alyssa Frazier recorded her first goal of the season for Samford's third penalty kick in the past four games.
- Ella Simpson tallied her third goal of the year. The freshman now has six points for the Bulldogs and total of seven shots with six being on frame
