BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to the ETSU Bucs Friday afternoon at the Samford University Tennis Center.

With the loss, Samford falls to 10-8 overall and 1-1 in Southern Conference play. ETSU improves to 8-8 overall and 2-0 in league play.
 
Samford took the doubles point, earning wins on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts. At No. 1 doubles, Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg and Alexis Lopez defeated Alejandra Morales and Mayya Gorbunova, 6-3. On the No. 2 doubles court, Natalia De Ugarte and Cindy Oest earned a 6-3 win over Laylo Bakhodirova and Emilia Alfaro.

In singles, Samford's De Ugarte defeated Morales, 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 on the No. 2 court. ETSU, however, took wins on the No. 1, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 courts to take the 5-2 win.
 
Samford will host Alabama State March 31. The match is set for a 1:30 p.m. start from the Samford University Tennis Center.
